Your website

1

Is there a quote or contact form on every page?

If a homeowner has to hunt for it, they leave. Check: open any page, scroll once. Is the form or a "Get a quote" button visible?

2

Does the form ask for a phone number?

You cannot call back a lead that only left an email. Check: open the form. Is phone a required field?

3

Is the form above the fold on mobile?

Most people research home projects at night on a phone. Check: open the homepage on your phone. Is a quote button visible before you scroll?

4

Is there a tap-to-call button in the mobile header?

Copying a phone number by hand is a step people skip. Check: on your phone, is there a phone icon or number at the top you can tap?

5

Are your hours on the site?

"Are they open right now" is the first question. Check: can you find hours in under five seconds?

6

Is your service area on the site?

People need to know you come to their town. Check: are town or county names listed anywhere?

7

Is there a real photo of real work on the homepage?

Stock photos read as stock photos. Check: is the first image something your crew actually did?

8

Are reviews shown on the site?

Years of good work are invisible if the reviews live only on Yelp. Check: can you see a customer review without leaving the site?

Your Google listing

9

Is your Google Business Profile claimed?

The map listing gets most of the clicks on local searches. Check: search your business name on Google. Is there a listing, and does it say "Own this business?" anywhere? That means unclaimed.

10

Are the profile's categories right?

The primary category decides which searches you show up for. Check: on the listing, does the category under your name match what you actually do?

11

Does the profile have photos from the last 90 days?

A profile that looks abandoned ranks like one. Check: tap Photos, look at the newest date.

How you follow up

12

Is there a way to request a review after a job?

If reviews depend on someone remembering to ask, they stop. Check: is there a message, email, or link that goes out after every job, automatically?

13

Does someone answer or text back a missed call within 5 minutes?

Most callers hire whoever gets back to them first. Check: call your own number from another phone at 6pm. What happens?

14

Does the site load in under 3 seconds on mobile?

Slow sites lose people before they see anything. Check: open the site on cell data, count.

15

Is the copyright year in the footer current?

A stale year tells visitors nobody maintains the site. It usually also means the software behind it has not been updated, which is a security problem. Check: scroll to the very bottom.

Want me to look at yours?

I do two free video reviews a week for local businesses: a 10-minute recorded walkthrough of your site, your Google listing, and how you run things, with what I would fix first. The recording is yours either way.
